A dog named Bulbul looks like a tiger keeping the monkeys away.
Srikanth is a farmer in a village in India. A few weeks ago, a group of monkeys came into the area. They ate the coffee beans in Srikanth's farm and hurt the plants. Srikanth tried to keep the monkeys away.
Srikanth placed a tiger statue(雕塑) at the gate of the farm where the monkeys came through. At first, it kept the monkeys away successfully. However, as the colour of the statue began to fade (褪色), the monkeys came back again.
The farmer then had an idea. He took some black paint and draw stripes (斑纹) on his pet dog Bulbul. Bulbul was brown so it looked just like a tiger from far away. Srikanth brought the dog to his coffee fields every day in the morning and evening. "I saw them running around after seeingBulbul," he said. "The monkeys do not enter my farm now."
Srikanth's idea was so effective that other farmers started learning from him. Farmers are no longer worried that their crops are eaten by monkeys because of the cute "striped tigers" walking in their fields. Unlike tigers, these ones don't roar (吼叫). They only bark (吠叫) sometimes. Srikanth says that the black stripes are painted with black hair dye (染料), so it will lose much of the colour in a month.
