Alone的用法和注意点

一、形容词alone作“单独的”讲，一般用作表语或宾语补语

1. He is not very much alone.他不是十分孤单的。(不能单用very修饰)

2. Leave him alone.别理他(或别惹他)。(宾语补语)

二、alone用于名词或代词后作“只有”、“唯有”讲

1.  a.He alone went.(当时)只有他去了。(言外之意，别人都没有去。)

b. She went alone, but the others went in groups.她独自去了，而其他人分组去的。(句中alone前无名词，不作“只有”讲。)

2. Man alone can speak.只有人类会说话。

【注】 alone 不能位于名词前作前置定语。

三、副词alone作“独自地”、“单独地”讲

We can do this work alone.我们能独自做这项工作。

试比较：She alone can do this work.只有她能做这项工作。

四、注意alone和only用法的异同

They sell cotton clothing alone.他们独自出售布衣服。(含有“他们独家销售布衣服”之意。)

They sell cotton clothing only.他们只出售布衣服。(含有“专卖布衣服而不出售绸缎、毛呢”之意。)

五、注意带alone的几个常用词组的用法

1. a. Let the panda alone.别惹这只大熊猫。(由“让这只大熊猫独自待着”引申过来。)

b. Let her alone do it.只让她做这件事。(alone修饰前面的代词宾格her。)

2. He won’t even thank you, let alone pay you.他连谢都不谢，更不用说付你钱了。

   Carol felt all alone in the world.

4. used after a noun or pronoun to show that the person or thing mentioned is the only one

   You can't blame anyone else; you alone made the decision.

5. used after a noun or pronoun to emphasize one particular thing
