Alone的用法和注意点
一、形容词alone作“单独的”讲,一般用作表语或宾语补语
1. He is not very much alone.他不是十分孤单的。(不能单用very修饰)
2. Leave him alone.别理他(或别惹他)(宾语补语)
二、alone用于名词或代词后作“只有”、“唯有”讲
1.  a.He alone went.(当时)只有他去了。(言外之意,别人都没有去。)
b. She went alone, but the others went in groups.她独自去了,而其他人分组去的。(句中alone前无名词,不作“只有”讲。)
2. Man alone can speak.只有人类会说话。
【注】 alone 不能位于名词前作前置定语。
三、副词alone作“独自地”、“单独地”讲
We can do this work alone.我们能独自做这项工作。
试比较:She alone can do this work.只有她能做这项工作。
四、注意aloneonly用法的异同
They sell cotton clothing alone.他们独自出售布衣服。(含有“他们独家销售布衣服”之意。)
They sell cotton clothing only.他们只出售布衣服。(含有“专卖布衣服而不出售绸缎、毛呢”之意。)
五、注意带alone的几个常用词组的用法
1. a. Let the panda alone.别惹这只大熊猫。(由“让这只大熊猫独自待着”引申过来。)
b. Let her alone do it.只让她做这件事。(alone修饰前面的代词宾格her)
2. He won’t even thank you, let alone pay you.他连谢都不谢,更不用说付你钱了。

这些岛屿太小了,不能作为独立国家存在。

leave sb, let sb
让某人独自呆;不打扰某人:

Don’t touch me! Leave me alone!
别碰我!让我一个人呆着!

非常孤单:
I felt vulnerable and very much alone.
我感到很迷茫,很孤单。

all, completely, entirely, quite
孤零零;孑然一身:
Carol felt all alone in the world.
卡罗尔觉得自己孤独在世。

He felt lost and completely alone.
他觉得自己迷茫无助,完全孤单一人。

together
单独在一起:
Finally the two of us were alone together.
我们俩终于单独在一起了。

[搭配]PREP.
with
和…单独在一起:
She did not want to be alone with him.
她不想和他单独在一起。

   Tom is  not alone in finding Rick hard to work with.
   并不只是汤姆一人认为和里克难以共事。
2. without the help of other people or things
   独力;单独:
   It's hard bringing up children alone.
   一个人独力抚养孩子是艰难的。
   The assassin said he had acted alone.
   暗杀者声称他当时单独行动。
3. lonely and unhappy or without any friends
   孤苦伶仃;无依无靠;孤独;寂寞:
   Carol felt all alone in the world.
   卡罗尔感到自己在世界上无依无靠。
   I've been so alone since you went away.
   你走了以后我一直很寂寞。
4. used after a noun or pronoun to show that the person or thing mentioned is the only one
   (用于名词或代词后)唯一,只有:
   You can't blame anyone else; you alone made the decision.
   你不能责怪任何人,是你一人做的决定。
5. used after a noun or pronoun to emphasize one particular thing
   (用于名词或代词后以加强语气)仅仅,单,只:
   The shoes alone cost £200.
   仅鞋子一项就花了 200 英镑。
IDIOMS
go it a'lone
   to do sth without help from anyone
   独力;独自干;单干:
   Andrew decided to go it alone and start his own business.
   安德鲁决定独力开办自己的业务。
leave / let sb alone
   to stop annoying sb or trying to get their attention
   不打扰;不惊动:
   She's asked to be left alone but the press photographers follow her everywhere.
   她要求别打扰她,但是摄影记者到处都跟着她。
leave / let sth alone
   to stop touching, changing, or moving sth
   不碰;不变动;不移动:
   I've told you before—leave my things alone!
   我告诉过你——别碰我的东西!
let alone
   used after a statement to emphasize that because the first thing is not true or possible, the next thing cannot be true or possible either
   更不用说:
   There isn't enough room for us, let alone any guests.
   连我们都没有足够的空间,更不用说客人了。
stand a'lone
1. to be independent or not connected with other people, organizations or ideas
   单独地;独立地:
   These islands are too small to stand alone as independent states.
   这些岛屿太小,不能算是独立的国家。
2. to be not near other objects or buildings
   孤零零地矗立:
   The arch once stood alone at the entrance to the castle.
   拱门曾经孤零零地矗立在城堡的入口处。
